Gastronomy is one of the cornerstones of Catalan culture and is also synonymous with wine. This varied, high-quality culinary wealth has helped establish Barcelona as a landmark destination: Catalan dishes based on the Mediterranean diet, made with locally sourced, seasonal produce; recipes associated with every season of the year, from the most traditional to the most creative and innovative; the city?s restaurants and highly acclaimed chefs ? Barcelona?s restaurants have 31 Michelin stars between them; and its wines, which offer a wide variety of nuances and sensations resulting from the varied landscape that lend the grape varieties their own unique character.
About us
Barcelona Food & Wine takes the baton from the Barcelona Gastronomia programme created in 2005. Its aim is to strengthen Barcelona’s position as a landmark city for Mediterranean cuisine, and to establish Barcelona and its wine-growing region as one of the world’s top wine-tourism destinations, while taking advantage of the city’s high profile.
Programme members
The programme includes many of the city’s restaurants, with more than 160 member establishments that offer different culinary specialities, as well as businesses that provide gastronomic and wine-tourism activities and experiences that provide an insight into our gastronomy.
