Turisme de Barcelona has created the programme Barcelona Pirineus-Snow and Mountain, in order to take advantage of the wealth of resources and tourist attractions in the Pyrenees and to take the benefits of  tourism in Barcelona beyond the city in order to boost the combination of urban tourism and winter sports and mountaineering. The aim is to consolidate the position of Barcelona and the Pyrenees as tourism hubs at national and international levels.

The Barcelona Pirineus-Snow and Mountain programme has been set up with the purpose of creating synergies between the Barcelona and Pyrenees territories and brands, and to promote winter sports and mountaineering activities. Barcelona's geographical location, just a short distance from the Pyrenees, makes it possible to combine a visit to the city with activities that transcend strictly urban ones elsewhere in the region.
