The Palau de Congressos de Catalunya is a symbol of contemporary Barcelona. It was designed by the prestigious architects Ferrater and Cartañá and won the 2001 National Architecture Prize.The complex is made up of several adjoining buildings, which make it a highly functional and versatile venue. Natural light, which floods into its many meeting rooms, is its main feature. This makes it the perfect place for events that are given an extra boost by this type of light. The four floors were built from high-quality materials. Concrete with white marble aggregate, quartzite and maple wood give the building its own unique personality which combines monumental scale, elegance and modernity. The vast meeting rooms and the auditorium acquire warmth through the use of fine wood and natural light. The beauty, harmony and simplicity of its lines are complemented by its highly functional, multipurpose spaces. The conference centre was designed to host multidisciplinary events, including congresses, fashion shows, theatre performances, exhibitions and concerts and has all the state-of-the-art technology these kinds of events require.
